Now we all know that Wikipedia is a great resource but not exactly 100% factual as based on the idea that its users can edit wiki articles... The following is from Wikipedia and I take no claim in is factuality.

"Top Gear (referred to as Old Top Gear when mentioned on the present version of the show) was a car-based BBC television series produced by BBC Birmingham, and broadcast on BBC2 from 1977 to 2001. It consisted of 30-minute magazine format programmes presented by a number of people, including William Woollard, Angela Rippon, Noel Edmonds, and Jeremy Clarkson.
(A Top Gear special, with Jason Barlow being the only remaining presenter, with Vicki Butler-Henderson, Tiff Needell and Adrian Simpson having moved to Fifth Gear, was broadcast in 2002 with coverage of the Birmingham Motorshow.)
In 2002, the show was relaunched in a new one-hour-long, studio-based format made by the BBC in London"

The Wikipedia article about the original Top Gear series is here.

From 2002 and On

"Top Gear is an Emmy award winning BBC television series about motor vehicles, primarily cars. It began in 1977 as a conventional motoring magazine show. Over time, and especially since a relaunch in 2002, it has developed a quirky, humorous style. The show is currently presented by Jeremy Clarkson, Richard Hammond and James May, and also features a test driver known as The Stig. The programme is estimated to have 350 million viewers worldwide."

The Wikipedia article about the current Top Gear series is here.

I personally would like to see the early 1977 and on episodes. If you know where to find them online please comment or drop me a line.

To me the current series starts off a little slow, but the later seasons and episodes get really funny.

So Here it is..... Enjoy Season 1 Episode 1 of the current run of Top Gear.
